Shopsy’s looked a bit different in 1921. Model T Fords parked in front while husband-and-wife owners Harry and Jenny Shopsowitz scooped ice cream cones inside. Eventually their two sons, Sam and Izzy, took over and grew the business into a deli, earning Sam the nickname "Corned Beef King" for crafting sandwiches piled high with house-smoked meats. However, some things stay the same, and today the cooks still build the classic corned-beef sandwiches. Patrons also enjoy options such as the Reuben and the Bill Cosby—a favorite of the comedian, according to staff—stacked with hot corned beef, hot pastrami, and swiss cheese. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, Shopsy's offers fluffy scrambled eggs and new york steak or three-egg omelettes throughout the day.
