Rick Bronson’s The Comic Strip beckons a rotating crop of touring comics to a stage sturdy enough to have held such comedic heavyweights as David Alan Grier, Bobcat Goldthwait, Steve-O, and brothers Shawn and Marlon Wayans. This June, Reno 911! star and sought-after voice actor Carlos Alazraqui brandishes a well-tuned voicebox that’s ventriloquized numerous memorable television characters, such as Rocko from Nickelodeon's Rocko's Modern Life and the Taco Bell chihuahua. In past stand-up sets, he's used his gifted vocal cords for spot-on impressions of celebrities and to animatedly describe the relationship he has with his wife, who is 20 years younger than he is. Mid-July braces itself for an oncoming hailstorm of hilarity as Tracey MacDonald takes to the stage and dusts off a quirky travelogue she’s kept since she moved from Canada to L.A. Among her observations are her skepticism of both the mood lighting inside American medical establishments and the cryptic language that swirls inside coffee shops.
