Ice cream is available by the scoop, a.k.a. "lick" ($3.50 for one, $5.50 for two, and $7.25 for three), or pint ($7.75)Lick Pure Creamery
Lick Pure Creamery’s founder, Michael Avery, found his calling along the sun-drenched beaches of California. Doling out frozen cups of ice cream from a pushcart, he established a thriving business that he relocated to Seattle in June 2012. The ice-cream shop is now open inside the Zaw take-and-bake pizza shop on Pine Street in Capitol Hill, with plans to expand throughout Seattle.
Lick’s all-natural scoops are made from scratch locally, meaning that they arrive at the shop fresh and without souvenir spoons acquired during cross-country trips. Rejecting typical flavors such as chocolate or vanilla, Lick instead sells evocatively named concoctions such as Wild Orchid and Southern Comfort, each crafted with intriguing mixtures of flavors. Avery and his staff of sucrose scientists also create special batches, including one infused with hand-smoked strawberries.
