In a day, they might go through 15 racks of ribs and 100 pounds of pork, not to mention 25 birds and 5 gallons of collard greens. While impressive quantitatively, itʼs their specialities that push them into noteworthy territory. In addition to the not-so-typical Catfish Platter, smoked tofu, and fried green tomatoes, specialty sides are available daily, like watermelon salad, green beans, and coconut cream pie. An ode to their Tuscaloosa roots, ordering your sandwich "Bama-style" (pulled pork, slaw, housemade red sauce and white mayo-based sauce) is a great way to get in on the lesser known side of their ever-morphing, yet classic, menu.Opened in the old location of Kool Korners Cuban grocer on 14th Street, the restaurantpays homage to their preceding inhabitant by keeping an old sign up on its walls, which teem with pop culture art and memorabilia (all for sale/negotiation).
