Description:
The Scoop: Ah, the glory days of college: you're either in the midst of 'em (lucky!), or you're hearkening back to them every now and then. For the former, well, you're probably well aware of this go-to college hangout near Georgia Tech. For the latter, allow us to suggest a place to step back in time to the days of cheap beer and hearty food. Rocky Mountain Pizza is beloved by college-goers for suds and slices that are easy on the wallet and go great with a game, but also by non-college students who're still lured in by those cheap beers and quick service (talk about a perfect midday lunch. Just don't tell my boss). The wedge-shaped mini Flatiron building is nearly iconic in the neighborhood, and even more famous than the exterior are the prices on the interior. Specifically the beer prices -- cheapest in town, we'd say. Looks like a college bar, priced like a college bar, but open to folks of all ages and strides. Hey, there's nothing wrong with reliving those days, as long as you can wake up before noon tomorrow. The story behind Rocky Mountain sounds like a restaurant equivalent of a Springsteen song: two guys spend their college days hanging out at the neighborhood beer 'n pizza joint, and they just love it so gosh-darn much, they can't leave it behind. So, they buy it. And what was once "their place" becomes truly their place. Sounds pretty idyllic, right? The great part about Rocky Mountain is, whether you're a 20something or... not at all, RMP is a place for all. Their goal is to make you feel like a regular as soon as you walk in the door (and with $2 beers, it ain't hard). Once you are a regular, swilling wallet-friendly beers with the best of 'em, you'll want to look in to the Country Club too. Not the kind with massive fees and popped collars, either. This country club membership nets you lots of free pizza swag with purchase points, and it's definitely worth checking out. And let's not forget the actual pizza... you know, 1/3 of this restaurant's name. It's good, and we aren't talking that faux-Italian fancy kind of good. This is College Pizza, good for soaking up beer and fueling up for... well, more beer. Take, for instance, the Allan's Wings pizza. It's a pie full of fried chicken tenders tossed in buffalo sauce on a cheese pizza. Ah, yes, just like they make it in Naples. Well, how they should make it, anyway. With individual pies at $7.99, it's perfectly priced for that college life of yours. No matter how old you are.
