Highlights:
  • Says Gilt City Insider Jared Rivera, ?This new chef [Master sushi chef Sachio Kojima] is a legend in the chef community, and he just returned to SF after a six year hiatus.?
  • Joseph Manzare has made his mark at Hecho by sourcing the freshest ingredients from around The Bay, a picking prowess that's on full display when you order chef's choice. At this meal you'll savor three different fish prepared as six pieces of either sashimi or sushi.
  • For a pre-dinner cocktail, the savvy bartenders will shake you up an organic margarita made from Tres Agaves Tequila, fresh limes, and a mixture of seven spices rubbed around the rim.
  • In his characteristic blend of tradition and fusion, Manzare has paired your tasting of three fish with a flight of three Namu sakes, selected to bring out a different aspect each bite-size serving.
  • Of the new chef, Patricia Unterman of the S.F. Examiner says, ?Sachio Kojima ...has complete integrity; no corners are cut and he uses expensive fresh wasabi, a real treat.?

  • Description:
At Hecho, Manzare has recreated a traditional atmosphere, drawing culinary and decorative elements from his numerous trips to Japan. But like he did at Tres Agaves, Manzare has added his own unmistakable flare. Sake can be ordered as a ?one cup wonder,? a full glass considerably more generous than the typical serving. And his dish presentations are adventurous: shredded daikon tops stacks of flash fried tofu; tai-leafs line plates; and scatterings of micro greens lay around his mains. Contrary to conventional culinary expectations, the tequila pairs surprisingly well with the fare, especially with entrees like the nightly changing whole grilled fish and the tuna tartar. Whether you're in the mood for a sushi snack, an organic margarita and fish, or a full meal, Hecho has made something intriguing for your palette.
