About The Event Tuning up before their notable date at the BBC Proms, Scotland’s National Youth Orchestra treat The Sage Gateshead with a select handful of classic compositions. The band are led by soloist and former BBC Young Musician of the Year Nicola Benedetti, who winds her way through Max Bruch’s four movement fantasy on Scottish folk melodies. Reimagining renowned works of the 19th and 20th century, this prodigious bunch will also put their spin on scores penned by Ottorino Respighi and Richard Wagner. The Venue This visionary venue of modern architecture was designed as an acoustically perfect space, and opened its doors in 2004 on the banks of the River Tyne. Comprised of three separate buildings, the arts centre hosts scintillating musical performances and educational workshops within a sparkling glass and steel shell. The National Youth Orchestra invite guests into Hall One for a show time of 7.30pm, with five bars and a brasserie on-hand to provide refreshments before and after the event.
