  • Founded in 1933, the San Francisco Ballet is the country?s oldest professional ballet company. They were the first to perform American productions of ?Swan Lake? and ?The Nutcracker? and have received the prestigious Laurence Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement in Dance.
  • The critics have spoken: The New York Times says the ?San Francisco Ballet has become the most impressively diverse ballet company in America,? while the Financial Times thinks the ?San Francisco Ballet has some of the best dancers anywhere.?
Description:
At the San Francisco Ballet?s 2012 gala post-performance party ?La Dolce Vita,? you?ll have a chance to dance with professional ballet dancers. It just might be to ?Little Red Corvette.?

The San Francisco Ballet Auxiliary, a fundraising group of 100 dedicated women, is inviting Gilt City members to celebrate the San Francisco Ballet at a fabulous gala post-performance party at City Hall on Thursday, January 19.

The theme is ?La Dolce Vita? and decor and food will be inspired by the Italian Renaissance. Guests will mingle with dancers from the San Francisco Ballet and enjoy cocktails, antipasto and desserts. Of course, you?re encouraged to dance, and music will be provided by DJ Solomon, the band Notorious and San Francisco Ballet?s own Sebastian Vinet, also known as DJ Conchita.

The San Francisco Ballet 2012 season promises a diverse array of performances that range from classic to contemporary works. Witness the thrilling tale of ?Onegin,? an adaptation of the Russian novel ?Eugene Onegin? by Alexander Pushkin that explores the aftermath of betrayal and revenge. Or experience Wayne McGregor?s starkly beautiful, award-winning ?Chroma? with modern music compositions by Joby Talbot and arrangements by Jack White III.

Support a new season of dance at a great party?and do some dancing yourself.
