During five-lesson courses, students meet at the Winnipeg Sailing Centre at Fort Whyte for 2.5-hour classes, captaining their own vessels under the watchful guidance of a Canadian Yachting Association–certified sailor. Each pupil receives 12.5 hours of total sailing time, protected by safety lifejackets and a coach-to-student ratio of 1:5. While Groupon purchasers can check lesson availability online, they must call or email Sail Manitoba to register.Sail Manitoba
Since fur traders and explorers first voyaged along the shores, lakes, and rivers of the province, Manitoba has celebrated a rich tradition of sailing. At 1020 hours on August 5, 1965, a group of yachtsmen and sailors drew from this history to inaugurate the first provincial sailing association, embarking on a storied career of legendary races and regattas, expert-led lessons, and an expansion of a network of affiliated clubs. Throughout the years, mariners at Sail Manitoba have promoted the thrill and joy of sailing through a biannual magazine, admirable performances at boating competitions, and informative courses. With teams of CYA-certified instructors on hand at affiliated marinas, students can easily learn the figurative as well as very literal ropes of sailing, or brush up before their mandatory boaster licence exams.Groupon Says
