On Saturday, June 16, Batter's Up Sports Bar and its outdoor environs fill with the piquant scent of wings and fierce culinary competition. From 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., local restaurants, including Trolley Wing Company, Wing Coop, and Wing Nutz, will pit their wares against each other in three categories: traditional buffalo, barbecue, and designer/exotic.

Meanwhile, guests make the rounds blind-tasting as many wings as they need to conclusively decide which recipes are superior. Joined by a panel of celebrity judges, the crowd will vote to crown a winner in each category. Among other entertainments, corn hole and Xbox live stations encourage friendly competition among the crowd, and karaoke encourages friendly competition with the live bands on stage.

Though Beehive Sport and Social Club sometimes features a discounted price online, this Groupon still offers the best deal available.

Beehive Sport and Social Club

"If you haven’t played it since sixth-grade recess, there’s a good chance we’ve organized it," Beehive Sport and Social Club founder David Marquardt told the Salt Lake Tribune. That isn't an accident: the club aims to keep its focus squarely on fun, friendship, and making schoolchildren jealous by choosing sports that anyone can play. Throughout the year, dodge-ball, kickball, and flag-football teams fight for dominance and prizes in coed leagues, though they're likely to lay any on-field grudges aside during postgame social hours at local pubs. Events and parties tempt competitors from outside the league with the chance to prove their skill in beer pong, whiffle ball, or capture the flag.
